COVID-19 Webinar – Drug Treatment and Contingency Planning in Scottish Prisons under COVID-19

As part of its response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Scottish Drugs Forum is hosting a series of free webinars.

The SDF webinars will address crucial aspects of the support of people with drug problems and the delivery of effective services that provide treatment and support, reduce harm and protect people from COVID-19.

The sixth SDF COVID-19 webinar will be held on Friday 22nd of May at 13.00 – 14.00.

The focus of the webinar will be on drug treatment and contingency planning in Scottish prisons.

The risks of COVID-19 within a prison environment pose significant challenges, not only for avoidance of an outbreak of the virus, but also for maintaining essential prisoner health care and safety.

This webinar will explore these challenges and the contingency plans put in place; in particular the provision of drug treatment, naloxone, and the early release programme.

Speakers include:

1. Lesley McDowall, Head of Health Strategy, Scottish Prison Service Headquarters
2. Tom Byrne, National Prisons Pharmacy Adviser
3. Mary Mitchell, Clinical Manager, HMP Barlinnie
