COVID-19 is a new coronavirus which can cause flu-like symptoms and can affect the lungs.

Typical signs and symptoms of COVID-19 include a high temperature or fever (37.8C or greater), a new continuous cough and shortness of breath or breathing difficulties. Some people will have no signs or symptoms but may infect other people. The majority of people will experience milder symptoms but some people will develop serious and life-threatening symptoms.

Some groups are at elevated risk of serious illness and death, including some people with a drug problem.
