
Chris Messenger
Programme Manager, Employability and Work-based Qualifications
Chris leads the work of Scottish Drugs Forum’s SQA approved Learning Centre which is responsible for developing and delivering work-based qualifications for the drug and alcohol sector. Chris also has oversight of SDF’s Addiction Worker and Recovery Worker Training Projects.
Returning to SDF in January 2021, Chris held a senior management post for a third sector agency, and supported a range of activity targeted towards carers, employability, social enterprise, learning disabilities, and food poverty / social isolation.
Between 2010 and 2019, Chris worked in various roles with SDF – supporting AWTP and playing a key part in the project’s expansion from Glasgow to a national profile.
Before joining SDF, the first time around, Chris worked in criminal justice and homeless projects in Glasgow and on the South Coast, where he secured a Professional Diploma in Substance Use Intervention Strategies from Brighton University.
Chris is a qualified SVQ Assessor and Internal Verifier. He read History at Oxford Brookes and holds an SVQ Level 4 in Management, alongside a Post Graduate Certificate in Leadership (Drug and Alcohol Services) from Glasgow University.
