Vocational Qualifications

A key feature of our SVQ programmes is an effective space for reflection on work experience and practice, while improving practical work-based skills.

Our SVQ levels 2 and 3 in Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF Levels 6 and 7, offer learners the opportunity to build a portfolio of work and evidence that demonstrates sound competence, alongside the knowledge required to achieve the current industry standard, suitable for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council.

Following pre-programme support and induction, candidates will attend specialist knowledge classes related to the level of VQ programme being offered.

Lesson 1: Legislation Relevant to the Social Care field
Lesson 2: Scottish Social Services Council and Health and Social Care Standards
Lesson 3: Challenging Behaviour
Lesson 4: Anti-Discriminatory Practice
Lesson 5: Adult Support and Protection
Lesson 6: Human Development Theories
Lesson 7: Equalities and Recovery

Classes are currently facilitated virtually.

All candidates have one to one support from a dedicated, workplace assessor who will guide them through the award from pre-programme support to completion.

Costs and Funding:

Our SVQ programmes are open to individuals and group learners.  Fees to undertake an SQA quality assured course with SDF is determined by the level of qualification and supplementary training requested.

Individual Training Accounts through Skills Development Scotland are also available through the SDF Learning Centre, giving learners who meet the eligibility criteria up to £200.00 towards a single training course or training episode per year.
