Placement Providers for the National Traineeship

The National Traineeship is a partnership project and works with a wide variety of services who support the programme and offer a rich placement experience to trainees.

Some of these organisations are:

  • We Are With You
  • Simon Community
  • NHS
  • Salvation Army
  • Blue Triangle
  • Phoenix Futures
  • Turning Point Scotland

Placements regularly report that programme participants and graduates become high quality workers who can intervene effectively in the lives of people using substances – their approach being grounded in the reality of the lives of service users.

Here is what a placement provider had to say!

“Every placement has brought positives to our service, with each individual bringing something different. The primary benefit has been their effect on the staff team through their desire to learn, which in turn requires staff to reflect on their own practice.

“The enthusiasm trainees bring in their desire to support service users, reminds staff of why they chose to work in this sector. The fresh pair of eyes and new perspectives create discussion and opportunities for service development.

“These are all qualities of a healthy, forward-looking service. This ultimately makes the service we provide better for the most important people, the service users!”

The traineeship is offered nationally, and we have support from many region specific services.

If you are part of a service and would like to find out how you can get involved and support the work of the traineeship as a placement provider, please contact Lewis Boddy, lewisb@sdf.org.uk for more information.
