Lynn Couper

Workforce Development Coordinator

Lynn’s role is focussed on emergency responses, which can include outbreaks of bacterial infection, identification of wounds and infection, emerging drug trends for example those which involve changes in the substances available, contamination of supplies or changes in the ways which people are using drugs, injecting equipment provision and all things harm reduction.

Key Responsibilities

– Develop and deliver learning and development sessions across Scotland

– Raise awareness, build confidence and support services, people who use drugs and other stakeholders to respond effectively to the harms being experienced by people who use drugs

– Chair of the Scottish Needle Exchange Workers Forum which provides peer support and learning opportunities to people working in injecting provision services in Scotland and has developed better practice guidance and influenced policy around harm reduction in Scotland

Background

After obtaining a BA in Social Sciences from Abertay University, I worked within a local authority until 2017 in a variety of roles, all with a specific focus on social inequalities before joining a third-sector treatment service based in the Forth Valley area as Harm Reduction Team Leader, running an assertive outreach model of harm reduction.
