Paula Strachan

Co-ordination and Development Officer, National Traineeship

Paula has worked in the field of Addiction for over 20 years gaining vast experience of working in drug and alcohol services.   She started as a volunteer in a residential project with the Glasgow Simon Community supporting women with alcohol issues and continued to work in various homeless residential projects throughout Glasgow as a relief Support Worker.  Paula has also worked as an Addiction Worker in a Community Addiction Team in the North of Glasgow and went on to work with Sheriff courts and Criminal Justice Teams across three Local Authorities in a Drug Treatment and Testing Order Team.  Prior to joining SDF Paula worked in East Renfrewshire HSCP Community Addiction Team as a Senior Addiction Officer.

Paula has a Sociology degree and a Post Grad in Addictions and trained with NADA Scotland in Auricular Acupuncture Detoxification. Paula has RHS qualifications in Horticulture and has a particular interest in horticultural therapy and the positive impact gardening can have on the health and wellbeing of those who are in recovery.
