Brendan Dougan
Co-ordination and Development Officer, National Traineeship
Brendan works to develop the National Traineeship in Highland and provides essential operational support to the team. Brendan is working to expand the programme in the region, building on the successful model of supported employment, specialist training and vocational learning available to trainees recruited across the Central Belt since 2004.
Key Responsibilities:
– Promoting the traineeship and trainee opportunities across the Highland region.
– Increasing applicant numbers and delivery partners supporting the programme.
– Diversifying pathways in to and outside of the traineeship and supporting people with experience to engage in alternative employment pathways.
– Supporting the development of alternative employability models in Highland.
Background
Brendan has an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences and Physiology and a postgraduate qualification in Health and Social Care. He has a keen and continuing interest in public health and wellbeing from both scientific and social perspectives.
Over the past 15 years, Brendan has worked with a range of groups in a number of roles ranging from Care Practitioner to Council Officer. He is also currently on the board of SPIRIT Advocacy in Highland and has experience in other third sector governance roles.
