Chris Messenger

Programme Manager Employability and Qualifications

Chris is responsible for the overall operation, leadership, and management, of SDF’s National Traineeship, SVQ Centre, and qualifications development activity.   

Key Responsibilities:  

– Overall management responsibility for the teams supporting delivery and development of employability and qualifications work in SDF.   

– Maintaining SQA and statutory quality assurance across all programmes of work. 

– Leading business development and income generation for the SVQ Centre, and fundraising activity for the National Traineeship.     

– Driving forward the expansion and development of the Traineeship, SVQ Centre and wider employability and qualifications activity in SDF. 

Background:  

Chris has a diverse background overseeing employability and social enterprise projects. He has previously held roles in drug, alcohol, community justice, and homelessness services. Chris is a qualified SVQ Assessor and Verifier and holds an SVQ Level 4 in Management.  He has a Professional Diploma in Substance Use Intervention Strategies from the University of Brighton, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership of Drug and Alcohol Services from the University of Glasgow.
