Emir Taha
Training and Development Officer (Peer Naloxone)
Since joining SDF in August 2023 Emir has become an integral part of the Peer Engagement Team. Emir supports naloxone distribution by working alongside partners to recruit and train peers groups who can then train others how to use naloxone. Emir offers regular reflective support sessions. Emir chairs the National Naloxone Network inviting all peers in Scotland to join the quarterly meetings.
Before joining SDF Emir was a naloxone peer champion in Dundee which launched in 2021. On conclusion of the fixed term project, he continued his passion for harm reduction with Hillcrest Futures by delivering naloxone training in hostels helping to evolve the project by offering IEP and dry blood spot testing on site. Alongside this he worked as assistant manager at a residential treatment centre where he gained his SVQ 3 in Social Services and Healthcare.
