George is currently Head of Operations and Compliance with the Scottish Prison Service at HMP Cornton Vale based in Stirling. HMP YOI Cornton Vale is the national facility for female offenders for both remand and convicted prisoners. Cornton Vale has the design capacity to hold a maximum of 119 prisoners, along with a separate Mother and Baby Unit with 7 spaces. Cornton Vale receives admissions from the courts.

He has over 30 years’ experience working with the Scottish Prison Service across a range of establishments and roles. As part of a previous role within HMP Edinburgh he was responsible for the expansion of Recovery services, which saw the development of several peer led initiatives including the Take-Home Naloxone programme and Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART). He has worked with a wide range of third sector organisations as well as statutory services to improve addictions services for those individuals within prisons.
