Jo-Anne Hamilton

Head of Policy and Communication

Jo is responsible for the overall operation, leadership and day-to-day running of our communication activity and policy work.

Key Responsibilities:

– Providing strategic leadership for the organisation’s policy and communication agenda, shaping clear positions, influencing decision-makers, and ensuring our work is grounded in evidence, member insight, and the needs of people with lived and living experience.

– Developing and maintaining strong, proactive media and public affairs relationships, ensuring the organisation is positioned as a trusted, authoritative commentator in national and local debates.

– Ensuring consistent, compelling messaging and brand integrity across all internal and external communications, enabling SDF to speak with clarity, confidence, and impact.

Background

Having worked in the charity sector for around 15 years, Jo has a track record for delivering high-impact campaigns and influencing change. She is passionate about ensuring that people with living and lived experience are embedded in communications and policy activity.
