Wez manages the day-to-day operations in the Peer Naloxone team working with stakeholders in the community and prisons to establish and embed peer naloxone supply across Scotland. This involves supporting and developing peers with experience of drug use to train and supply naloxone to people at risk of overdose to reduce drugs deaths.
Key Responsibilities:
– Convening and chairing project steering groups with Scottish Prison Service, National Health Service & 3rd Sector partners to support expansion of peer naloxone
– Chairing the National Peer Naloxone Network bringing together projects from across Scotland
– Developing and delivering the bespoke 2-day naloxone peer training for trainers’ package
– Supporting naloxone peers through reflective practice sessions and one to one support
Background
Wez is a keen harm reduction advocate and holds and SVQ 3 in Health and Social care and recently completed the GVCS emerging leaders award; Wez was made an Honorary Research Fellow of Stirling University in 2022.
