Programme Manager Workforce Development

As Programme Manager for Workforce Development at the Scottish Drugs Forum (SDF), I lead the Workforce Development Team which designs and delivers a diverse range of training and professional development opportunities tailored to Scotland’s workforce.  Capacity building programmes that empower professionals to support individuals and communities affected by substance use. 

Key Responsibilities 

– Overseeing the design, delivery, and evaluation of learning programmes, including scheduled, bespoke, and commissioned training. 

– Managing the development and delivery of accessible eLearning resources and blended training solutions. 

– Collaborating with stakeholders to implement workforce development strategies aligned with MAT Standards and the National Drugs Mission. 

– Managing bespoke and commissioned training programmes to meet the unique needs of local planners, organisations, and communities. 

– Supporting the development of harm reduction interventions and strategies aimed at reducing drug-related harms and deaths. 

– Supporting emergency responses team to monitor emerging drug trends, deliver harm reduction training, and support interventions to address new risks and improve service resilience. 

– Supporting the Local Support Team to build the capacity of community-based organisations to secure funding and implement effective services.

Background
With over 30 years of experience in the field including 15 years with NHS Ayrshire and Arran as an Addiction Education and Prevention Specialist, and a background in primary care and healthcare facilitation, I bring expertise in early intervention, prevention, harm reduction and workforce development. I hold a BA in Business Management and a Postgraduate qualification in Drug and Alcohol Studies.  

In addition to my professional work, I am passionate about supporting local communities through volunteering, including literacy programmes in primary schools and activity programmes within residential and nursing home facilities.
