Scottish Drugs Forum’s CEO David Liddell to retire

13th December 2022

Dave Liddell, SDF’s founder and CEO has announced that he is to retire.

Jim Stephen, Chair of the SDF Board, said, “It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work with Dave. I have admired his unwavering commitment to supporting some of the most vulnerable and stigmatised people in Scotland, and his determination that they should receive the treatment and help they desperately require and deserve.

“Dave has been an inspiring leader within the SDF and across the wider drugs field. Dave’s advice and guidance have been greatly appreciated and valued by the Board, and his many skills, vast knowledge and experience will be sorely missed.”

Dave said, “It has been a great privilege to have established, with others, SDF in the Nineteen-Eighties, and to have supported its growth to become the respected organisation it is today.

“Leading the organisation has had its challenges and overall, has been immensely rewarding experience. But it’s time to move towards retirement.

“My immediate priority, and that of the Board, is to ensure a successful transition to a new CEO who will support the organisation to continue the work.”

Dave founded SDF in 1986 when it was awarded funding through a Scottish Office grant.

The post of CEO will be advertised in January.
